Local Northeast Ohio community bank is looking for a Compliance Specialist. The ideal candidate must possess 2-5 years of experience working with audit and/or compliance within a financial/banking institution. This position assists in the planning, development and implementation of all activities and programs associated with operational risk management for a Bank. In addition, this position assists with the administration of the Bank’s BSA/Anti Money Laundering Program and related procedures according to Company policies, procedures and applicable federal regulations.

This position acts as a intermediary contact between bank staff, bank auditors and regulators; facilitating overall risk management and mitigation strategies; performing risk assessments; working with business line managers; risk reporting and project coordination. Although no direct reports, this position entails strong vendor management skills for outsourced services. Ensures the Bank’s operating activities are secure and stable, used to help maximize profits commensurate with the best interest of all internal and external stakeholders. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking compliance regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Knowledge of consumer laws and regulations for lending and deposits, including but not limited to: Equal Credit Opportunity (Reg B), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Truth in Lending (Reg Z), RESPA (Reg X), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA – Reg C), Fair Credit Reporting (Reg V), Truth in Savings (Reg DD) and Electronic Funds Transfers Act (Reg E
  • Knowledge of regulatory/compliance risk management and AML related requirements including BSA, Patriot Act, OFAC and other applicable federal regulations
  • At a minimum, 2 years of experience within a banking/financial institution or regulatory agency
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, team building and project management skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate risk management
  • Complete understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training
  • Works with line managers to discuss business objectives and formulate solutions

Additional consideration but not a requirement

  • ACAMS – CAMS Certification a plus
  • CRCM Certification a plus
