Talk about career growth… This 100 year old company is building a new department focused on Data Analysis and Data Governance.  This leadership role will be a key member of this growing team and will be seen as the  data context expert for Investments and ensures data accuracy through ensuring quality, reliability and availability of investment related data.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience and understanding of investment compliance and understand datapoints and the downstream impacts of those inputs.  While this is not an IT position, the ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in SQL queries and data mining.  A major initiative will be to build and maintain data security and data governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Oversees, develops and implements standards and procedures for enhancing the quality, reliability and availability of investment related data. Ø
  • Responsible for the management, oversight and completion of strategic data management procedure and warehousing initiatives as well as the development and implementation of standardized procedures for supporting the data management and data governance function according to best practice and industry standards. Ø
  • Directs, anticipates and provides solutions to the most complex data and reporting problems. Strategizes with technology to devise and implement solutions to ensure better data management and reporting efficiencies. Analyzes, reviews and/or prepares regulatory, compliance, management, analytical and adhoc report requests from internal/external clients. Ø
  • Maintains an astute awareness of industry standards, best practices as pertinent to data management and reporting as well as systems used. Establishes, analyzes, reviews and maintains sound controls to company and regulatory needs. Establishes accurate, efficient and effective financial reporting and control functions. Remains current on new industry initiatives and represent the company as a subject matter expert as needed. Ø
  • Advises and consults with business unit personnel which may include front office, internal and external business partners regarding complex data and reporting strategies. Performs research and/or quantitative analysis that will allow market requirements to be shared with business groups. Ø
  • Establishes regular data validation audit processes to ensure data integrity. Makes recommendations for new data integrity reports and proactively helps to identify areas for process improvement. Ø
  • Develops and leads a team of professionals by hiring and retaining highly qualified industry staff, establishing and managing team performance expectations, mentoring and coaching behaviors, driving results, establishing a plan that aligns with the strategic direction and communicating effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Recommends changes and provides direction for Business Intelligence (Bl) tools and data management. Serve as the owner/administrator of the DMS, DW, Data Marts & Bl Reporting Cubes. Ø
  • Creates and manages current and future vendor relationships for data and ensuring optimization of feeds.
Qualifications:  
A bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems or Business Administration
• Seven or more years’ experience as a Data Analyst, Bl Reporting Analyst, Business Analyst and Securities Analyst
• Experience within investment and accounting systems (Pam for Investments, Everest, Bloomberg AIM, Bond Edge, Intex) preferred
• Able to analyze financial documentation and turn into concise data points, develop procedures and communicate detail in both verbal and written form
• Experience using Data Management Solutions and business intelligence tools, 
• Working knowledge of Data Base modeling techniques and Data Mart practices.,
• Ability to lead and prioritize a team with multiple functions.
